Additional information
Why does a medication work well for one person and cause side effects in another? Part of the answer lies in your genes. Adnà’s pharmacogenomics test analyzes the genetic variations that influence how your body processes and eliminates many medications.
A simple saliva sample, collected at home, is all it takes. The analysis is carried out by an accredited partner laboratory using Illumina technology. You receive your report as a PDF by email 30 to 45 business days after the lab receives your sample.
Your report shows how your genes may influence your response to dozens of medications, grouped by medical specialty:
For each medication, the report shows whether your genetic profile could affect its effectiveness or the risk of side effects.
Both words describe the same idea: using your DNA to better choose and dose your medications. Pharmacogenetics usually refers to the effect of one gene on one drug, and pharmacogenomics to the analysis of many genes at once, as this test does. It is one of the foundations of personalized medicine.
The pharmacogenomics test costs €279. The price includes the kit, the prepaid return label, the lab analysis and the report.
To also get the genetic predisposition, nutrition, sport, skincare, talent and ancestry reports, the DNA 360 test includes all seven reports for €399, from the same sample.
Show your report to your doctor or pharmacist. They can take it into account when choosing a medication or adjusting a dose. Your genes do not change during your life, so the report remains useful for future treatments.
Important: never start, stop or change a treatment without advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
Genetics explains only part of how you respond to medications. Age, weight, liver and kidney function, other medications and diet also play a role. This test is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a medical consultation.
To also learn about your predisposition to certain diseases, see our genetic predisposition test.
Your report is sent only to the email address used for the order. You decide who you share it with.

Questions?
No. Pharmacogenomic tests provide information on how genetics can affect the response to certain medications, but they cannot predict the response to all medications. They are based on specific genetic markers validated for their influence on the metabolism and effectiveness of certain medications. It is essential to consult a healthcare professional.
Yes. Pharmacogenetics is an evolving field, and new discoveries may lead to adjustments in recommendations. Adnà follows these developments and may update the report accordingly. It is important to maintain regular contact with a healthcare professional regarding any changes in treatment strategy.
The pharmacogenetic report is intended to guide discussions with a healthcare professional. It can help inform the choice of certain medications and dosages, but should not be used alone to make medical decisions. The physician will take this information into account along with medical history, current medications, and lifestyle.
Adnà offers tests for informational and educational purposes. These tests are not intended to be used as a diagnostic tool. Traits and results are not influenced by genetics alone, but also by environment, upbringing, lifestyle, and other factors. Results should be interpreted with caution and, if needed, with a healthcare professional.
