Additional information

The Adnà Ancestry Test is a detailed DNA test designed to trace the origins of your ancestors through different historical periods. The test uses over 700,000 genetic markers to perform an in-depth analysis of your ancestry.

The report provides a complete analysis of your genetic heritage, backed by leading-edge technology.

The report is divided into several sections:

  • Geographical ancestry
  • Ethnic ancestry
  • Historical ancestry
  • Paternal ancestry (for males only)
  • Neanderthal DNA
  • Maternal lineage

Sophisticated algorithms and statistical models are used to interpret the genetic data and establish correlations between current DNA and archaeological samples.

The final report presents a detailed description of the current genetic connections a person may have with various cultures and civilizations throughout history. It also provides information on how migration and mixing of populations throughout history have influenced the current genome.

What your test can tell you

This test identifies an individual's ancestry across more than 1,500 regions worldwide, covering 175 countries. It uses autosomal DNA, which means it provides genealogical information from both paternal and maternal lines. Thanks to this analysis, the test can reveal percentages of your origins by country, and even by region or province within those countries.

Process

The process for this test is simple:

  • After ordering your test and receiving your collection kit, follow the detailed instructions for collecting your saliva sample.
  • Register your kit and your personal information on the Adnà portal.
  • Return your sample to the laboratory, in its original envelope, for sequencing and analysis.
  • You will be notified by e-mail that your report has arrived in your customer portal on Adnà's website.

Warning

It is important to note that genetic ancestry testing is not an exact science, although the algorithms used are based on scientific research. These tests may not exactly reflect the complete history of your ancestors. Furthermore, the results must be interpreted in conjunction with other sources of genealogical and historical information for a more complete understanding of your family heritage.

What types of genetic tests do you offer?

Our tests fall into several categories:

  • Parentage tests, which identify whether two or more individuals are related;
  • Lifestyle tests, which provide information on how your genes may influence your lifestyle, preferences, health and well-being;
  • Health tests, which identify, among other things, genetic predispositions to certain diseases or the way in which the body metabolizes a particular drug;
  • Finally, we offer a prenatal test for pregnant women.

What are the limits of your tests?

  • Our tests are for informational and educational purposes. They are not intended to be used as a diagnostic tool. Your traits are not only influenced by genetics, but also by many other factors such as social and geographical environment, education, lifestyle, etc. We encourage you to interpret the results with caution, and to consult healthcare professionals for further evaluation if necessary.
  • The information extracted from the tests and presented in our reports should be considered as indications of predisposition and not as definitive diagnoses. Their relevance may vary according to numerous environmental factors.

What is the scientific basis for your tests?

  • A parentage test uses DNA to establish family relationships. It analyzes genetic markers to identify biological relationships between parents and children, grandparents, uncles, aunts, twins and siblings. DNA comparison reveals specific genetic similarities, indicating a family relationship.  These tests exploit genetic patterns of inheritance shared by members of the same family. In this way, they can map out extended family connections, offering a precise overview of biological links.  Our parentage tests offer close to 99.9% accuracy.
  • Our lifestyle and health tests are based on a combination of cutting-edge technologies and internationally recognized scientific studies. DNA sequencing is performed using Illumina technology. This technology can analyze over 700,000 genetic markers. Added to this is the integration of peer-reviewed studies accepted by the international scientific community, which enable a connection to be made between a particular gene and a potential predisposition. This ensures that reports are based on recent, relevant scientific data that reflect an established scientific consensus.

What information can I find in your genetic reports?

  • Depending on the type of test you choose, you can expect to receive detailed information about your parentage, your ancestry, personalized health advice, or insight into specific genetic traits.

Can your tests identify predispositions to certain diseases?

  • Yes, our Genetic Predisposition Test answers this question. However, this test is not intended for diagnostic purposes.

The delivery time for your kit is usually 3 to 5 working days after placing your order.

The time required to process and analyze your sample depends on the type of report you have ordered. Once at the laboratory, processing times are as follows:

  • Parentage tests are processed in 3 to 5 working days.
