Oral Microbiome Test - Uncover the Secrets of Your Oral Health Through the Analysis of Your Oral Bacteria

Adnà's Oral Microbiome Test provides a detailed insight into the bacterial communities present in your mouth, allowing you to better understand their impact on your well-being.

What You Will Discover:

  • Oral Health Status: Gain information about potential conditions such as cavities, periodontitis, and oral cancers, and learn how imbalances in your microbiome may contribute to these issues.
  • Bacterial Profile: Analyze the presence and proportion of various bacteria in your mouth, such as Streptococci, Lactobacilli, and Haemophilus. Understand how these bacteria interact and their impact on your oral health.

What is the Oral Microbiome? The oral microbiome consists of the collection of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms living in your mouth. These communities play a crucial role in oral health, influencing everything from digestion to protection against infections. An imbalance in these bacteria can lead to oral health problems and potentially affect other aspects of your overall health. Analyzing your oral microbiome helps identify imbalances and understand how they may be linked to specific conditions.

What to Expect from Our Test: Our Oral Microbiome Test analyzes the bacteria present in your mouth using advanced sequencing techniques. You will receive a detailed report on the proportion of each type of bacteria and its influence on your oral health. Additionally, the analysis will provide valuable information about your risk of developing certain oral conditions.

Adnà enables you to take control of your oral health by offering an in-depth view of your oral microbiome. Order today for a comprehensive and revealing analysis of your bacterial balance and its impact on your overall well-being.

Process

The process for this test is simple:

  • After ordering your test and receiving your collection kit, follow the detailed instructions for collecting your saliva sample.
  • Register your kit and your personal information on the Adnà portal.
  • Return your sample to the laboratory, in its original envelope, for sequencing and analysis.
  • You will be notified by e-mail that your report has arrived in your customer portal on Adnà's website.

Warning

It is important to note that, unlike genetics, where variation over a lifetime is essentially nil, microbiota is constantly evolving and changing. Thus, the results of the report may also vary depending on when it is carried out. This means that it may be wise to perform a microbiome test periodically to monitor the evolution of certain aspects of your health and confirm the impact of changes in habits. Adnà recommends sharing the microbiota test report with your GP before making any drastic lifestyle changes. Furthermore, these tests do not replace other diagnostic tests, such as dental consultations.

What types of genetic tests do you offer?

Our tests fall into several categories:

  • Parentage tests, which identify whether two or more individuals are related;
  • Lifestyle tests, which provide information on how your genes may influence your lifestyle, preferences, health and well-being;
  • Health tests, which identify, among other things, genetic predispositions to certain diseases or the way in which the body metabolizes a particular drug;
  • Finally, we offer a prenatal test for pregnant women.

What are the limits of your tests?

  • Our tests are for informational and educational purposes. They are not intended to be used as a diagnostic tool. Your traits are not only influenced by genetics, but also by many other factors such as social and geographical environment, education, lifestyle, etc. We encourage you to interpret the results with caution, and to consult healthcare professionals for further evaluation if necessary.
  • The information extracted from the tests and presented in our reports should be considered as indications of predisposition and not as definitive diagnoses. Their relevance may vary according to numerous environmental factors.

What is the scientific basis for your tests?

  • A parentage test uses DNA to establish family relationships. It analyzes genetic markers to identify biological relationships between parents and children, grandparents, uncles, aunts, twins and siblings. DNA comparison reveals specific genetic similarities, indicating a family relationship.  These tests exploit genetic patterns of inheritance shared by members of the same family. In this way, they can map out extended family connections, offering a precise overview of biological links.  Our parentage tests offer close to 99.9% accuracy.
  • Our lifestyle and health tests are based on a combination of cutting-edge technologies and internationally recognized scientific studies. DNA sequencing is performed using Illumina technology. This technology can analyze over 700,000 genetic markers. Added to this is the integration of peer-reviewed studies accepted by the international scientific community, which enable a connection to be made between a particular gene and a potential predisposition. This ensures that reports are based on recent, relevant scientific data that reflect an established scientific consensus.

What information can I find in your genetic reports?

  • Depending on the type of test you choose, you can expect to receive detailed information about your parentage, your ancestry, personalized health advice, or insight into specific genetic traits.

Can your tests identify predispositions to certain diseases?

  • Yes, our Genetic Predisposition Test answers this question. However, this test is not intended for diagnostic purposes.
