Marie's Story

"I wanted to make informed life decisions."
 

Marie's uncle, with whom she had always been close, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when he was 52 years old. Marie was still quite young at 35, but seeing how her uncle suffered from this disease and how it handicapped him in his daily life troubled her.
 

Less than a year later, her little sister, Amélie, went through a major depressive episode marked by extreme fatigue, sadness, and a general loss of interest.
 

Marie found these two events very hard to bear, and they transformed the previously harmonious dynamic in her family. Constant worry had a profound impact on Marie and those close to her.
 

Marie, organized by nature and very discerning in the information she consumed, spent several months questioning her own health, reading and informing herself. She wanted to make wise, informed lifestyle choices that would keep her healthy, both mentally and physically. She wanted to be in the best shape of her life, not only for herself, but also to be able to support her uncle and sister. 

She eventually decided on two DNA tests, which she had meticulously researched: the Health Test, which identified specific genetic markers that could impact one's susceptibility to various health conditions; and the Pharmacogenomics Test, which revealed her body’s genetically determined ability to metabolize and respond to certain drugs, such as antidepressants and other psychotropic medications.

Through these two genetic reports, Marie was able to find some peace of mind, but also a concrete way of making informed choices, allowing a proactive approach to health management.
